Danish Radio Stations SUCK

Here in Denmark there are no good radio stations for people who, like me, want to listen to rock. All the stations play pop or techno! This means that you have to either turn to your own music or search the web for stations from other countries.

After many years of just listening to my own music I bought a great little box called a ROKU SoundBridge which you can use to play music from your PC’s music library wirelessly. Now, this box had a function which would allow it to receive internet radio stations. I searched the Roku Radio website for good rock/metal stations and found an American radio station from Seattle called KISW, which had an online player.

This station has really impressed me. I thought it was just going to be another bad radio station which would play some soft rock songs like the standard Danish radio station but it turned out to play great music. It plays everything from old school rock to rock songs by new artists. And this is just the music I like; it’s Metallica, Alice in Chains, Disturbed and all that kind of music. They also have some great programs like The Mensroom, where four guys talk about the news and what they think about it (funny as hell) and the Hookup, where you call in and request a song which start with the letter that the last song played ended with. This is a great way to incorporate the listeners and the Danish radio stations could learn something here!

Whenever I have friends over and we play Playstation 3 I put on the radio station in the background and they all think it is a great station!

It can definitely be recommended for people who like rock which is harder and heavier than the kind they play on the pop rock radio stations in Denmark!

Metal Horns

I hate people who does not listen to metal or any other kind of rock and run around flashing the metal horns (<-- picture)!

The metal horns represent everything metal. It was originally a way to shield against people giving you the mean eye. Ronnie James Dio grew up watching his mom do this on the street when someone looked badly at her. Dio brought the gesture to the world of metal.

The metal horn gesture has always been a way for metal listeners to express themselves about something cool and awesome. The horns represent everything about metal, but when other people use the gesture it becomes "pop-ish", which is very bad!

The gesture is thrown around these days, when people don’t know what to do on photos and stuff. It’s like what happened to the peace sign(picture -->). It became popular to use the hand gesture when someone took your picture or filmed you. That is how it is today with the metal horns. People have made it popular. It was, in my opinion, supposed to be something the metal lover society had for ourselves. It would be our signature. How we would know each other.

I saw a behind the scenes of a commercial shoot, where five model sat on a bench, having a break, and when the camera came they all startet throwing horns. Now, unless those model listen to metal, which I doubt, they have not earned the privilege of throwing horns. It would be like if a person saw the Swastica (the Nazi symbol) and thought it was cool. This person the had the symbol tattooed onto his/her body. When this person some day runs into a Nazi, how do you think the Nazi will react? I think he/she will be f-ing pissed. He would probably beat up or maybe even kill the person.

So: Don't use gestures/symbols you have not earned the right to use!!!

Sencerely
The Metalhead of Denmark!
